Our core beliefs regarding user privacy and data protection

  • User privacy and data protection are human rights
  • We have a duty of care to the people within our data
  • Data is a liability, it should only be collected and processed when absolutely necessary
  • We loathe spam as much as you do!
  • We will never sell, rent or otherwise distribute or make public your personal information unless strictly necessary for us to complete a service requested by you.

Comments

When you leave a comment on our site, we collect the data you enter (like your name and comment), along with your IP address and browser details to help detect spam.

If you use a Gravatar profile, an anonymized version of your email may be sent to the Gravatar service to display your profile picture next to your comment. See their privacy policy here: https://automattic.com/privacy

If you upload images to the website, avoid including location data (EXIF). Other visitors may be able to download and view this information.

Cookies

  • Comment cookies: If you leave a comment, you can choose to save your name, email, and website in cookies for next time. These last for 1 year.

  • Login cookies: When you log in, we set cookies to remember your session and screen preferences. Login cookies last 2 days (or 2 weeks if you choose “Remember Me”).

  • Editing cookies: If you edit or publish content, a temporary cookie may be saved to remember the post ID — it expires after 1 day.

  • Temporary cookie: A basic cookie is set on the login page to check if your browser accepts cookies. It doesn’t store personal data and is removed when you close your browser.

Embedded Content from Other Sites

Some pages may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles). These behave as if you visited the other site directly, which may collect data, use cookies, and track your interaction, especially if you are logged into those sites.

If you register on our site, we store the personal information you provide in your account. You can view, update, or delete your data at any time (except your username). Site admins can also access this information.

Your data is only used to give you access to restricted content and manage your subscription.

Payments

We use Stripe to process payments securely. When you make a payment, your personal and payment data is sent to Stripe to complete the transaction. We do not store your full card details.

We recommend avoiding the inclusion of any personally identifiable information in your questions or answers unless necessary. All content submitted via AnsPress is retained for reference, moderation, and support purposes.
