Message from Gwent Police

Dear Certificate Holders,

Gwent Police has introduced a new digital engagement system called Neighbourhood Matters, which supports communication with local communities and groups with shared interests.

We have created a dedicated portal within Neighbourhood Matters for certificate holders. This platform will provide relevant updates on Firearms Licensing and other matters that may affect you. Updates may include changes in legislation, licensing matters, support, guidance, and engagement events.

Over the past eighteen months, the Firearms Licensing Department has undergone a number of changes aimed at increasing engagement and improving service delivery. This has included strengthening relationships with shooting groups, clubs, registered firearms dealers, and national organisations such as FirearmsLicensing.Net and the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC).

An Independent Advisory Group has also been established to support accountability and transparency in decision-making, while providing a forum for discussion and constructive challenge.

In addition, we have reviewed and updated our processes and operating procedures to improve efficiency and responsiveness to queries and requests for support.

We remain committed to building on this progress, further enhancing engagement, and continuing to improve the service we provide.

If you have any queries, please raise them through your local shooting club or representative, or contact us directly using our email address.

The Gwent Police Neighbourhood Matters page can be found by clicking – Gwent Neighbourhood Matters

If you follow this link:   Gwent Firearms Watch you’ll have the option to register and be entered into the Firearms Licencing Gwent-wide group at the same time.

Many thanks,

Gwent Police Firearms Licensing Department
